Admissions & Audition Requirements

Online Application

Complete the application forms, upload your audition recordings, submit your resume, and make application fee payment through the PyeongChang Music Festival & School online application process. The process will be easier if you have all information required in advance.


Eligibility

Individual Instrumental Program

There is no student age limit, but the program is designed to best serve the older, more experienced student, so preference may be given to very advanced high-schoolers and college-age students. Children younger than 14 are advised to attend the Festival with a parent or guardian. All students are assigned to a Resident Counselor at the Festival, regardless of age.


Festival Orchestra Program

Accepted applicants will range in age from 16 years old at the start of the festival.


Audition Requirements

All audition materials must be submitted through our website, www.gmmfs.com. All audition materials must be recorded within the past year. No CDs or DVDs will be accepted. Please follow the instruction on our website, www.gmmfs.com.

All applicants for 2018 School

All applicants are required to submit the audition recording online.

2017 School Participant   Please note!

NEW IN 2018: You must submit your audition recording online, even if you attended in a prior year.

Repertoire

Individual Instrumental Program
  • Violin | Viola | Cello

    two contrasting pieces or movements of your choice

  • Piano

    three contrasting pieces or movements of your choice from at least two different composers/periods (between 10-15 minutes of music)

Festival Orchestra Program
  • Violin | Viola | Cello

    two contrasting pieces or movements of your choice from solo works

Supported audio/video formats
PyeongChang Music Festival & School electronic application system supports the following audio/video formats:
  • Video - avi, m4v, mp4, mpeg, mpg, wmv
  • Audio - mp3

Documentation

All applicants are encouraged to send a current performance résumé or bio.
Please note that all documentation should be translated into English.
You may submit performance résumé, bio and/or any required documentation when you fill out the online application, or send by Email:school@gmmfs.com

Application Fee

If you would like to pay application fee and participation fee in KRW(₩), please log on to the Korean online application page and fill out the Korean application form. Once paid, all fees are non-refundable. An application is not considered complete until the fee is paid. Only complete applications will be evaluated by the auditioning faculty.

All applicants are required to submit a non-refundable application fee of $75 USD.

A late application fee will be effective after the deadline, March 25, 2018 (KST).

$75 application fee will be effective if received by March 25, 2018 (KST)
$100 application fee if received after March 25, 2018 (KST)

It will appear as Gangwonarts or Gangwon Arts and Culture Foundation on your receipt.
Please submit application fee through our website by March 25, 2018 (KST).
Please do NOT send cash, money order, or check by mail. Online payment only.

Notification of Acceptance

Notification of acceptance e-mails will be sent out beginning April 25, 2018. Applications will be accepted with late fee, and may not be considered until after the initial decisions are complete. Applicants will be notified in a timely manner.
Please note: Notification of acceptance will be sent to the applicant email address on your application. Make sure your email address is valid.
